What a bond costs, and why.
Bond amount is not premium. Call for the exact number on your file.
Bond pricing depends on the bond type, the required bond amount, your state, your credit, and underwriting. Pacific West Bonds does not post premium prices, because a posted price is a guess about your file. Call (916) 652‑5800 for an exact quote. Bad credit is still worth a call, and financing is available.
What does a contractor bond cost?
There is no single answer, and anyone who posts one is guessing about your file.
You pay a premium, which is not the same as the bond amount. The bond amount is the size of the bond the state or the owner requires. In California the contractor license bond amount is $25,000, set by the state licensing board.

What changes the price of my bond?
Six things move the number. This is what we ask about on the call.
| What we look at | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Bond type | A license bond, a disciplinary bond, and a project bond are priced differently. |
| Required bond amount | The state, the board, or the owner sets the amount. A bigger bond changes the price. |
| State | California, Oregon, and Arizona have their own rules and forms. |
| Credit history | Credit is one input. Bad credit is welcome to apply, and financing is available. |
| Business history | How long you have been operating and what work you do. |
| Underwriting | The surety makes the final call on the file. |
Do you offer financing?
Financing is available. Ask on the call.
Ask about it when credit is a factor, or when the bond amount is larger than usual.
- Financing is available
- Bad credit is welcome to apply
- Bankruptcy, tax liens, and foreclosure are workable
Credit trouble is not a dead end
Bankruptcy, tax liens, and foreclosure are part of the conversation, not the end of it. Financing is available.
Call (916) 652‑5800Why will you not quote a price online?
Because the price depends on things a web page cannot see: your bond type, your amount, your state, and your credit.
A number on a page would either be too low to be honest or too high to be useful. We would rather take the call and tell you the real one.
One call, one clear next step
A short call beats a price range you cannot rely on.
